These gatherings will provide space and time to learn, return to, and support you through practices, rituals, stories, and dialogue.

They are experiential - an opportunity to engage with practices and ideas, and gather and explore resources that will act as balms and fortifiers for your past, present, and future efforts to return to unfinished passages, re-story your experiences, and re-emerge through the passages.  Think of these gatherings as a time to activate the Initiated Woman within, support personal and collective efforts for healing and change, and enrich your daily, creative, and soul life.

Details

What is this workshop about?

During these gatherings, Dr. Mendy will guide you through the archetype of the Initiated Woman by sharing methods, practices, and experiences to enhance your personal and collective connection to the Initiated Woman as an inner guide— and to do this in dialogue, connection, and community with others.

Who is this workshop for?

Women who wish to understand the archetypal cycle of growth and initiation into womanhood across the lifespan.

It’s for women who want to tap into the core qualities of being Initiated Women so they can continue to explore, weave, and nurture this seed wisdom into their daily lives, relationships, and communities.

Why is this important?

The lack of knowledge about the archetypal journey of initiation has left girls and women without proper guidance and resources to support them as they travel through the ups and downs of life.

These gatherings will offer a template for the development and nurturing of core skills, qualities, and attitudes, helping to bolster confidence, create inner strength, and tap into source creativity and intelligence—fortifying these journeys and the quest for awareness.

The Syllabus

Session #1

Breath & Body

We will open with a simple ritual where we will set our intentions to make meaning together.

We’ll begin by exploring the breath and body to gather disparate thoughts, energies, and histories and return to earth and matter.

We'll explore the archetypal Initiated Woman and how she shows up to guide our journeys.

We introduce the idea of ‘being called’ and remember that threshold moments place us on the “journey” of the fool, the heroine - the archetypal cycle of life, death, and rebirth— the Great map that guides us on our quest of transformation.

Session #2

Mind & Heart

We will build knowledge about the dynamic relationship between what we know and don't know about ourselves and our world — and explore themes and practices in ways of seeing, knowing, our public self, secrets, and hiding.

We will discover how to discern your voice from the voice of the culture; to dismantle received ideas, know the inner critic, and practice listening and speaking with your voice, uncovering truth and lies, and how to carry this voice in relationship.

We will play with tenderising the heart to tap into a Greater Source - developing questions and telling stories to help lead us toward a new theology that has the gravitas to hold the great Mystery—beyond new-age spirituality and patriarchal dogma.

Bonus Sessions

An hour-long open facilitation and space for participants to gather if desired.

Session #3

Depth & Soul

We connect with a sense of inner strength, power, and vitality, and locate our core - and experiment with how we can operate from there.

We see how the mind works best when it is holistic—with reason and logic, imagination, and symbols, all acting in friendship with each other to navigate the everyday and mundane, and mystical and unknown. We reframe intuitive wisdom as a power.

We will work with a dream and play by dialoguing with each other and the dream elements and characters. We will explore ritual as theatre— acts that bring the symbolic and inexplicable into the world.

Session #4

Creativity & Expression

We are encouraged to explore creativity and art, beyond what we commonly think of as such, to ensure we  live a creative life. We each discover "our project", and learn to recognise the Inspiritrix when they come.

We reframe practice and discipline as bringing forward a healthy inner masculine force that supports and encourages you in this endeavour, while your feminine nature anchors into the archetypal flow of personal and collective rhythms and cycles.

We begin planning for the closing ritual and collaborate in this creative act.

Session #5

Story & Ceremony

We prepare for Life after Liminality -  What are the lessons you’ve learnt? Skills acquired? What’s been solidified? We'll work with the Stages of Change.

We explore how we can continue to build community, virtuous friendships, and networks so we can continue the work. We explore how to bring the archetypal Initiated Woman into your communities and ask, How have you embodied/ can you embody that Initiated Woman to support others?

We will with dialogue with a myth or folk tale (story to be decided).

We then close our work in ritual.

About Dr. Mendy

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, GUIDE, YOGA PRACTITIONER

I’m a clinical psychologist with a background and interest in various traditions and approaches.

At its heart, my approach is alchemical, dialogical and co-creative.

I incorporate mind-body practices from traditional cognitive-behavioural psychology (CBT, ACT) and Transpersonal, Depth, and Archetypal Psychology with Somatic approaches (Hakomi, DBR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy).

I also naturally invite the wisdom of spiritual and religious traditions, yoga philosophy, energy medicine, and mystical and esoteric practices, including ancestral healing, mythology, dreaming, tarot, and trance.

With two decades of experience, I continue, with curiosity, to unlock the right doors for guidance. Each woman’s specific hurts and tender wounds need a unique alchemical blend — a tincture of this, a soak in that, combined with some time spent there..

As I draw in and weave through the wisdom and practices, your experiences and responses further inform the “what next” and particular recipe for your needs—you are an active participant in the process—so we dialogue, dance, experiment, and are curious together.

The greater aim is to help each person be more conscious, embodied and engaged human—no longer tied to past hurts and victimhood. You live from and for yourself but also in relationships with others and the greater community and cosmology.
